Friday, well actually Thursday was the end of the first summer session. Friday was the very last of it all when I turned in my English paper. It kind of makes me sad that half of the summer is gone because soon the fall semester will be starting. Then 2010 will be here. I will say that I have been enjoying the summer. The four classes that I'm taking for the summer are short and sweet and it makes me a satisfied person.
Tomorrow will be the start of a new session and I can't wait for them. I'll be taking two African American studies courses, 1 of which is apart of the Sociology school. The great thing about it is I'll be done with my Africana Studies minor and I'll have an extra course out the way. Being it that these are both Africana studies courses, they will bring up my GPA. Once I'm done with these classes, I will be classified as a senior and will be focusing all on my major.

Fiscal 2009
Its July 1st and the first half of 2009 is gone. This also means that 2010 is part way here, damn. A lot has happened these past 6 months that I have to look back just on my personal life.
January
Turning 21
February
Speed dating
March
Running crew for Leading Ladies
Meeting Brother Jed
April
Meeting film director
Getting a new apartment
May
Meeting film directors and actors
Spending the summer away from home
June
Starting summer school
Going to the Juneteenth Festival
Today is the first day which I get a break from work, what a relief. I get a break from prospects hanging up on me and calling me a solicitor. I've been working Sunday through Thursday from the time I've been back in town to today. So now is a time to relax and focus on getting the first summer session out the way. What I have liked about work is that I work for 3 hours each day, 5 to 8, Monday to Thursday and 3-6, Sunday. Having to work 3-hour shifts has made my job better, the fact that they're shorter shifts. I just wish the shifts were 3 hours during the fall and spring semesters.

Juneteenth 2009
I should've blogged about this before, buy oh well.
Saturday was the first time I ever went to the Juneteenth Festival. I had so much fun going that it was worthwild. I remember wanting to go back the last 8 years, but this was my opportunity of really going.

Last night I was stressing over how much I hated college and why I wanted to quit school. All I wanted to do was start my career.
1 A.M. Rant
So, I'm sitting here on campus, outside blogging. My Internet is not working; it was working fine last night.
It just aggravates me that someone (it wasn't me) in my English class came up with the idea of wanting to do a response paper for The Big Sleep. Whoever asked to do a response paper made a horrible decision. Yeah, I agreed to do a response paper, but what's the fucking point of doing one?!
It's people like that person who just pisses people off. Having to do a response paper on this movie, puts me in a position of "I don't know what I'm gonna argue about concerning this film."
Realizing that I didn't and possibly won't be able to finish the entire book of The Big Sleep, I'm just gonna have to say, "Fuck it."

Possibly
On Friday I was at the library doing some research on how much money SAG actors make. Getting the results of the pay scale didn't take me long. I was surprised to look at the numbers in how a SAG actor makes per day and per week.
Full Feature Film ($2 million budget):
$655/day
$2,272/week
$115/day (as an extra)
TV/Cable - 3.6% of distributor's gross receipt
Video/Disc - 4.5% of first million sold, 5.4% thereafter
Low Budget (Less than $2 million budget):
$466/day
$1,620/week
Modified Low Budget (Less than $500,00):
$248/day
$846/week
Just by looking at these numbers and even calculating them, I wouldn't be making a lot of money. It kind of makes me wonder if Hollywood A-list actors are greedy or if they're trying to be successful. I have been thinking about becoming a SAG actor so that people can submit me for roles. But I've also been considering of being SAG Eligible just so I can find work on movies that are Non-Union. Just looking at those numbers again really makes me think a lot. I may have to work a second career job just to cover myself when I'm not acting. I'll have to see how things turn out when I get to LA.
